Suburban Washington, D.C. School District Retains CWS to Protect Glass in 26 Buildings

March 11, 2014

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. – In the wake of a disturbing trend in violent school invasions nationwide, Commercial Window Shield has been retained by Calvert County Public Schools to protect its buildings from unwanted intrusions with the installation of security window film.

The project involves installing a 16-mil clear fragment retention window film with a wet glazed attachment to 26  elementary, middle and high school buildings housing 15,870 students.

Completion of the project, which was awarded to Commercial Window Shield after a competitive bid process, is scheduled before the students return to school in the fall.

The window film will also help protect the windows during potential foul weather events, such as hurricanes and tornadoes.

Commercial Window Shield was hired for similar projects last year by 36 school districts in Long Island, N.Y., and Glastonbury and Simsbury school districts in Connecticut. Glastonbury officials gave rave reviews on Commercial Window Shield’s performance to Simsbury officials, which helped secure the project.

With nearly 35 years experience, Commercial Window Shield is the nation’s leading security and solar reflective window film installer.  The company has been especially active in the Mid-Atlantic region, where it has protected windows at the U.S. Capitol, Pentagon, and all House of Representative buildings. Nationwide, the company has completed projects at O’Hare International Airport, the Willis Tower [former Sears Tower], Denver Mint, Grand Central Terminal and George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
